2010 Recap
For the first time since the 2007 season, Black Earth finished with an above .500 record in Sunday League, going 9-7 and clinching the final playoff spot in the Section's east division. It wasn't an easy task either, as Black Earth endured a three-game losing streak in mid-July, and was forced to win its final regular season game at Waunakee. The Bombers managed to do just that with a 3-2, extra inning victory. The momentum carried into their first round playoff game as they knocked off top seeded Middleton, also by a score of 3-2. Another playoff win in Ashton put the Bombers in the Northern Section championship game for the first time since 2004. The great run ended there, however, as Sauk Prairie got a run across in the bottom of the ninth inning to pull out the 2-1 win.
In Night League, Black Earth jumped out to a 4-1 record before losing their final four games of the regular season. However, the good start was good enough for a post season birth as the Section's fifth seed (top eight teams make the playoffs). Black Earth traveled to Plain in the first round and cruised to a 11-4 win. As with the Sunday League, Sauk Prairie would end Black Earth's season with a 10-5 win. Sauk would go on to win the Night League championship, which means Black Earth lost to the eventaul Night League champion two years in a row. Reedsburg defeated Black Earth in the second round of the 2009 Night League playoffs and also went on to win the title.
